Hyde County, NC - Land Records File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Martha M. Marble POA, HYDE COUNTY Transcribed by James Hardison Power of Attorney, Hyde County Court House, Swan Quarter Deed Book M page 443 NOTES by James Hardison - I have a POA that gave Frederick Hardison in Hyde County to represent some of the grandchildren of Jasper III in a misunderstanding with other grandchildren concerning some property. A. J. Roundtree signed it as guardian of William Hardison. We believe he was Jesse Roundtree who lived in Greene County. There is another signature that appears to be Levena Hardison. We believe it is Lucretia. The Frederick Hardison who was assigned the POA was an older person and probably the brother of Jasper III. The Jasper mentioned in the POA who also signed it was the Jasper who died at Beard’s Creek about 1861. He had a brother named Frederick. Their father was John, the son of Jasper III. The Robert mentioned was the son of Charles whose father also was Jasper III. The Joshua was Joshua found in Pitt and Greene Counties in connection with our James. Mr. Hardison has an uncanny knack of taking difficult documents and making sense out of them. I agree with him and this offers the best evidence we have that James Hardison was a son of Jasper III. I find the document difficult to figure out what the relationships of all these people were. Of interest, is Abel Dail was a neighbor of some of the Rountree family in Greene County. This POA also indicates that Judah, the usual spelling of Judith in the Hardison family, was probably the wife of Jesse Rountree and was deceased at the time the POA was made.
