"being weak in body" 16 March 1827 / Probate Feb. Term 1829 Daughter: Sarah SAUNDERSON all the right, title and interest I have in 50 acres lying on the pine ridge. Also $800.00 to be paid by my executors as they think proper. If she should die before the expiration of six years then this money should go to her surviving children. To: Sheldon C. SPENCER 30 acres of land lying on the East side of the Indian Ridge, it being the land I bought from Stephen GIBBS, with an exception that William Warren SPENCER have liberty to get cypress timber off sd. land for his benefit. Also I give to Sheldon C. SPENCER one Negro girl named Nancy and one bed and furniture. Son: William W. SPENCER to have my black mare, bridle & saddle. I give and bequeath to William W. SPENCER 1/5 of the crop. It is also my will that my executors shall sell my schooner Jones & Samuel and my crop of corn now on hand and all the perishable estate that they think proper to sell for the purpose of discharging my debts and the residue of money to be laid out to buy young Negroes or otherwise discretionary with my executors. The executors shall keep all my property together six years beginning January 1, 1827 and make provision for my wife and family in a manner as I always have done. My children to be kept at the best schools as long as my executors see proper except Jones SPENCER must be kept in school until age 21 but he is to choose his studies after the expiration of 15 years old or sooner if William W. SPENCER sees proper. It is also my desire that all the rest of my property that is not already disposed of should be equally divided with my wife and children. Executors: son, William W. BURRUS and running with his line across from sea to sound and then across the creek, containing by estimation 1/2 both tracts on each side of the creek. Harriet EASTER of Hyde Co. 9 February 1829 / Probate: May Term 1829 For as much as my old Negro woman Pleasant has been in the family and has been a great means of support of both my fathers family and of mine (since my fathers death) and Pleasant has had many children and has labored hard to raise and support her children and those children have become the great part of the wealth of myself and my brothers and sisters, it is therefore my will and desire for and in consideration of the dutiful and obedient services and profits of Pleasant that after my death she peaceably and quietly enjoy the profits and benefits of her own labor. And in order that she so enjoy her labor, I appoint my friend and executor, R.M.G.
