Jesse GIBBS, SENR. of Hyde County - 8 October 1822/Probate: Feb. Term 1824 Son: Benj. GIBBS a piece of land I purchased from Uriah GIBBS adjoining the northernmost corner of the tract I now live on. Also 35 acres with the water privilege on the North side of Waupopin being in the Northeast of my tract and running southerly till a parallel line through sd. land will include 35 acres; one feather bed and furniture. Son: Wilson GIBBS 1/3 of the tract of land I now live on across the upper end of sd. land joining the Creek line with an equal privilege of five (acres?) woods in sd. land. Also 34 acres on the North side of Waupopin beginning at the South most corner of Benj. GIBBS' and running southerly till a parallel line through my land will include 34 acres; one bay mare. Son: Wormington GIBBS 1/3 of the tract I now live on beginning in the Southwest corner at the main road and running with sd. road till a parallel line through my land to Wilson's will include 1/3 of the whole tract or 16 2/3 acres, together with the privilege of 5 (acres?) woods. Also 34 acres on the North side of Waupopin beginning at the Southmost corner of Wilson's lot and running a parallel line through my land; one feather bed and furniture on which he sleeps. Son: Silvester GIBBS 1/3 of this land I now live on beginning at the Southeast corner of Wormington's land at the road and running with the road to W.W. HILL's line and with sd. line to Wilson GIBBS', containing 16 2/3 acres and an equal privilege of a drain through the land; one feather bed and furniture, one watch & trunk, one black mare. All the houses on said lot where I live except the dwelling house and smoke house which remains on said lot, is to be equally divided between Wilson & Wormington GIBBS. Daughter: Sarah one feather bed and furniture; ½ of a Negro boy named Samuel; one small bay colt. Daughter: Priscilla one feather bed and furniture; ½ of Negro boy named Samuel; one trunk. Daughter: Mary one feather bed and furniture; ½ of Negro boy named Aubrey; ½ of the house; ½ of the gun boat & harness; a large chest. Daughter: Rebecca one feather bed and furniture; ½ of Negro boy named Aubrey; ½ of the house; ½ of the gun boat & harness; one side saddle; mahog. table. It is my will that the bequeaths to my daughters, Mary & Rebecca GIBBS, shall remain in the hands of my executors for safe keeping until they come to the age of 21. Negro woman Jude and her increase to be equally divided among my 4 sons: Benj., Wilson, Wormington & Silvester. It is my will that the balance of land on the North side of Waupopin and a lot of cypress swamp undivided & adjoining Jonathan HARRIS and all the remainder not given away to be sold with my crop stock to pay all my just debts and if there is a remaining balance it is to be divided equally between my 4 daughters: Sarah, Priscilla, Mary, & Rebecca GIBBS.
