William Potts Estate, 1835

State of North Carolina, Iredell County
To the Sheriff of Iredell County Greeting:
You are hereby commanded to summon a jury of good and lawful men and James 
Campbell Surveyor to lay off for the widow Jane G. Potts her dower in the 
lands of her deceased husband William Potts according to the Acts of Assembly 
in such cases made and provided. Herein fail not and have you this writ before 
the justices of our next court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions to be held for 
the county of Iredell at the court house in Statesville on the 3d Monday in 
Feburary next to whom you are to make known how you have executed this writ. 
Witness James Campbell Clerk of said court at office the 3d Monday in November 
AD 1835.

We the subscribers Justices of the peace appoointed to settle with Able Graham 
Guardian of the minor heirs of William Potts Dec'd have examined said Estate 
and from that there was due each of the heirs on the 15th day of Dec 1858 - 
John H. and Jane A. Potts the sum of $735.82 1/2 and that said Guardian was 
entitled to a credit by vouchers on behalf of John to the amount of $15.17 1/2 
and on behalf of Jane to $11.57 1/2 which leaves a balance due John at this 
date of $719.66 and a balance due Jane of $721.25, witness our hands and seals 
this 15th Dec 1838.
