C., August 22, 1832. He was born March 1, 1756, in Rowan County, N. C. He volunteered under Captain Joseph Dixson. He served under Captain David Caldwell in the Cherokee Campaign. He was in the battle of Briar's Creek. He served as a ranger and at times commanded a company of volunteers.
