Letter concerning Mrs. McKee [8 Oct 1845] [The following letter seems to be out of place in the John Dickey file; nonetheless, it has been included.] Oct 8th 1845 Dear Sir Since writing the above or have within I was handed your form of 25th Sept [?] & deferred forwarding file(?) the contents was known. I can only say that we can do no more for Mrs. McKee at present as there is no living witness to proved the facts required. we submit the case cheerfully to the discretion of the department. Mr. McKee was a thrifty farmer & was one of those who never refused service of any kind when called on by the officers of the army either verbally or otherwise all days at their service. then, he cast nearly his all things is well known here from common form & by the old citizens. No body doubts it. but [?] [?] done all for the old lady that we can & therefore must stop. She will be the last to complain. With much regard yrs W. F.
