Communication

Died on the 2d of this inst., Captain James Houston of Iredell County, NC, 
aged 72 years. He was a native of Ireland and emigrated to Philadelphia about 
the year 1770 and shortly afterwards settled in North Carolina. He was amongst 
the foremost of the citizens of this country who rendered actual services in 
the great national enterprise which tryed men's souls, of establishing the 
independence of the United States, until he became incapable of performing 
actual duties by a wound which he received in a hard fought battle at 
Ramsours, June 22, 1780; but his mind and the remaining powers of his body 
continued to exertion until the day of his death.
