Mrs. Nannie Elmira Holder McKey, 81 year old resident of 665 East Iredell avenue, died in the Copper Basin Hospital at Copper Hill, Tenn., at 10:45 p.m. Sunday. Death was attributed to heart failure. Mrs. McKey was the widow of James Edley McKey, who passed away on June 24, 1962. She had been in Copper Hill, Tenn., since mid-June, visiting her daughter, Mrs. Walter Q. Higdon. A native of the Amity Hill section of Iredell County, Mrs. McKey was born on June 1, 1883, a daughter of the late Robert Calvin and Mary Elizabeth Ann Lentz Holder. She came to Mooresville during her girlhood days to make her home with an uncle, Rufus Lentz. Mrs. McKey attended the Mooresville Academy. She was a life-Long member of Mooresville’s First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Battle of Bentonville Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy. The survivors include; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Giles Lytle Sr., of Mooresville, Mrs. Walter Q. Higdon of Copper Hill, Tenn., and Miss Helen McKey of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Robert Giles Lytle Jr., of Mooresville, Mrs. William Theodore Hutchins Jr., of Greensboro, Miss Mary Nan Higdon of Atlanta, Ga. And Misses Sarah Helen and Jane Moore Higdon of Copper Hill, Tenn.; and one great-grandson, Robert Knox Lytle of Mooresville. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, with the pastor, the Rev. Joe Stowe, in charge. Interment was in the family plot in Willow Valley cemetery. Pallbearers were; Homer Brantley, Joe Gabriel, Thomas G. Hethcox, Frank Moore, Glenn Houston, and Bill Sprinkle.
