All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Connie Ardrey n/a February 2, 2008, 7:28 pm Charlotte Daily Observer 15 Oct 1915 Statesville, Oct. 14 - Mr. James Arthur Ramsey, a veteran of the Civil War and a former resident of Iredell County, died at his home in North Wilkesboro, Tueseday night, where he had resided for the past year, of pneumonia, and was buried here this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock in Oakwood Cemetery, following funeral exercises conducted from the A.R.P. Church by Rev. J.H. Pressly. Mr. Ramsey was 74 years of age and was born, raised and had spent the greater part of his life in this county, where he was well known and highly respected. He served throughout the Civil War as a member of the Second North Carolina Cavalry. He is survived by four children, two sons and two daughters: Messrs. John Ramsey of Winston-Salem and Charles Ramsey of Aletha, Kan., and Mesdames George Steele of Huntersville and Luther Taylor of Aletha, Kan. The local camp of Confederate Veterans attended the funeral and burial exercises in a body.
