March 24,  1837  Charlotte Journal
   DIED, in Iredell County, on Thursday morning, the 9th instant, MAJOR AMOS 
SHARPE, aged about 70 years. MAJOR SHARPE was a man of a fine mind, excellent 
sense, and was highly esteemed. His death is a source of deep sorrow to his 
family and a large circle of friends.
