Cook and Miss Grace Miller Were Not Married as the Result of the Work of a Matrimonial Bureau, As Was Reported Mr. James Edward Cook, of San Francisco, Cal., and Miss Grace Miller, daughter of Mr. P.T. Miller of Shiloh Township, Iredell County, were married today at 11 a.m. at the residence of the bride's father, by the Rev. J. Meek White, pastor of New Sterling and New Perth Associate Reformed Presbyterian churches. There were 52 invited guests present at the marriage, and had it not been cold, raining, snowing and sleeting no doubt there would have been more than a hundred guests, consisting of relatives, neighbors and friends. Mr. Cook is a native of Michigan, but for several years has been a resident of San Francisco. A little more than a year ago Mr. Cook was in this country as a traveling man and then became acquainted with Miss Grace Miller and has been corresponding with her ever since, and this acquaintance and correspondence has grown into a very happy marriage. Mr. Miller is a farmer and a merchant, one of the most substantial citizens of this county. We are requested by Mr. Miller and Mr. Cook to say to the public that the information given by your Statesville correspondent last Saturday is incorrect - first, in that he says this marriage took place last Wednesday night; secondly, in that he says this marriage is the resultant of a matrimonial agency. It is not fair to Mr. Miller and his excellent family, nor to Mr. Cook, although he be largely a stranger, to have these reports heralded abroad. We, therefore, ask in their behalf that you make this correction, by this correspondent, in your splendid paper, immediately. Mr. Cook is 35 years of age and his bride is 15 years of age, we are informed.
