In the name of God Amen I JOHN McGUIRE of the County of Iredell & State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory do think proper to make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following viz. I commend my soul to God through Jesus Christ the redeemer and my body to christial burial at the discretion of my friends after my funeral expenses & all my just debts are paid it is my will that the remainder of my estate be disposed of in the following manner In the first place I bequeath to my beloved wife ANN the use of my plantation until arrives at the age of twenty one years & afterwards during her widowhood to have a comfortable maintenance from the said farm also the whole of my household and kitchen furniture also our mare saddle & bridle together with her choice of six head of horned cattle ten head of sheep one breeding saw four hogs of two years old & five of one year old together with the whole of the present crops on my farm and whole of the farming utensils Item I give and bequeath to my son WM. S. McGUIRE my plantation together with a mare two years old a new saddle and bridle one rifle gun together with the whole of my shop tools without reserve & the whole of my books The whole of my property not heretofore bequeathed it is my will that it be sold at publick auction & out of such sale the whole of my debts to be paid and the remainder I give & bequeath to my son for the purpose of his education I do hereby constitute and appoint my worthy friend Silas Sharpe sole Executor of this my last will and testament & I do hereby revoke and disannul all will by me heretofore made in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 16th day of July in the year of our Lord 1818 in presence of JOHN RELLOUGH jurat JOHN McGUIRE (seal) HENRY HUGHEY jurat ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vol. 1A, Page 97 – Iredell County, N.C.
