All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Robert Foster rfoster37@cox.net March 5, 2011, 9:22 am Source: Iredell County Wills Written: February 2, 1793 Iredell County Jams Watts Will, 2 February 1793 In the name of God Amen This Twenty second day of February In the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & Ninety three I James Watts of the County of Iredell being (illegible) found & perfect mind & memory do make & ordain This my last Will & Testament in the form & manner following Imprimis I Bequeath my foul to God who gave it & my Body to the Dust to be decently buried at the descretion of my Executors herein after named Item That all my just debts & funeral expences be defrayed out of my Estate Item I Bequeath to my beloved Wife Mary the plantation I now live on With the Whole of the Stock & all the moveable property together with a Negro Wench called Nancy & a Negroe boy called Jack to hold during her natural life excepting from articles as shall herein after be accepted. Item I Bequeath to my oldest Daughter Margaret to my daughter Mary to my Daughter Rebekah & my daughter Rosannah to my daughter Margaret I Bequeath a Negro Wench named Queen & to my daughter Mary I bequeath a Negro girl named Teena & I also will & devise that the money arising from my Tenesee Lands shall be allowed to my two daughters Rebekah & Rosanna or so much of it as shall be considered equal to the bequests herein made to my other two daughters before mentioned & Provided that should not be found sufficient for that purpose then that deficiency to be made up out of the property now bequeathed to their mother as her Dower. Item I bequeath to my Son William Nine & one half acres of Land which he has already cleared near to his own house. And so much timber adjoining the said field as is necessary to keep the fence in repair. Item I bequeath to my Daughter Jane a certain Red Heifer with two Stars in her face & whatever besides her mother may think proper to give her. Item I bequeath to my Son Andrew the one half of the plantation on which I now live; to enjoy during his mothers life & the whole thereof after her decease but by no means to dispossess her of the Mansion house during her Life Also my Said son Andrew shall allow to any of his sisters who are yet unmarried to have the back shed of the mansion house for their own special use during the time they or any of them may remain unmarried & to provide sufficient Provinder for Two Cows & one Horse for the use of his said sisters during that time. This is also to have the use of such farming utensils as his mother fees necessary for the cultivation of his Land. Item I Bequeath to my son John A tract of Land lately Paid off on the South of my plantation containing Two hundred & ten Acres reserving a piece or parcel of meadow already cleared for the use of The old plantation for the term of Five years & in Consequence of his obtaining a clear title to said Tract of Land he is to pay into the hands of my Executor the sum of One Hundred pounds current money.
