Elder Colyer is buried in the Old Beulah Cemetery with his second wife, Eula Mae Whitley Carter Colyer. Elder JT and Martha Ellen Colyer were the parents of Della Rosa, Thomas Elwood, William Joseph, Lou Velia, James Alvin and Joshua Frank. Martha Ellen's obituary is the only one in the family not yet located. Her parents were Joshua and Sally Hawkins Edwards. Her oldest son, Thomas, preceded her in death and is buried beside her in the Colyer Family Cemetery. Elder JT & Eula Mae Whitley Carter Colyer had two stillborn sons who were buried in the Colyer Family Cemetery in 1912 & 1913. They also had two daughters, Rada Christelle (married to Loyd G. 'Jack' Cox) and Jeta Maxine (married to Woodrow Atkinson). The name Colyer was changed to the Collier spelling during Elder James Turner (Colyer) Collier's lifetime. With the exception of Thomas, who died in 1910, all of his children used the 'Collier' spelling as well. There are 8 graves with fieldstones for the head and foot markers. Elder JT (Colyer) Collier's father, Elwood Colyer, and his two wives are said to be buried there. His first wife was Nancy Lewis Colyer and his second was Edith Littleton Colyer. Edith was Elder JT Colyer's mother. Nancy's mother, Mary Lewis, lived with she and Elwood according to census records, so it is possible that she is buried there, as well. That would possibly account for four of the fieldstone graves that have no identification. Outside the perimeter of the cemetery fence a stone was found with carvings on it that are illegible. It is a stone that is similar to those found in cemeteries of the day, so it has been placed near the entrance of the cemetery for safekeeping in hopes that one day more information will be uncovered about its origin.
