All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Connie Ardrey n/a March 31, 2018, 9:02 pm Source: Familysearch.org Written: 1799 William Blackman Estate, 1799 Johnston County, NC State of North Carolina Johnston County Elizabeth Blackman Dower &c We the subscribers being appointed or summoned by the Sheriff under the direction of the last Johnston Court as a Jury to allot and set off Elizabeth Blackman widow and relict of William Blackman deceased her right of Dower in all the lands in the fork of Mill Creek and Neuse River in the county aforesaid belonging to the heirs of said Blackman, being met on the premises the parties being present and agreed that the old road leading from Col. Williams ferry (or where he used to keep) to where Mill Creek Bridge used to stand near Lewis Jernigan's be the dividing line, and that all the lands amounting to about three hundred acres on the north east side of the road shall vest in the widow aforesaid so far __ right of Dower may require except the crops now growing on said land tended by the heirs and the rails they __ and put up on said and that all the rest of the land on the south west side of the road aforesaid shall remain in the possession of the heirs of said Blackman agreeable to the usage general in such cases. We the Jury aforesaid think the agreement between them equitable and fair given under our hands the 13th August 1799.
