                         Sir At the Spring Term 1842 of the Superior
Court for Johnston County, I being a German and wishing to obtain my 
naturalization papers filed my declaration and intentions according
to law at the March Term last the time for me to get my papers. I
failed by not having my Witness (M. Proctor of Raleigh) who is
knowing to my having been in the United States seven years - I am 
under the impression that you could arrange the matters and put me
in a way of geting my papers immediately if you can do so as Governor
it will very much obilige me. I claim the privileages of an American
Citizen and want to excerise them, and as it has so happened that I
did not obtain my papers at Court I wish to do so now. Please let me
hear from you immediately
