Johnston County, NC - Cornelius Mitchell Testimony, 1845 ----¤¤¤---- STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA JOHNSTON COUNTY On this the 6th day of September 1845 personally appeared before the subscriber one of the acting Justices of The Peace in and for said county. Mr. CORNELIUS MITCHELL who being first duly sworn according to law saith that he was well aquainted with GEORGE MITCHELL and MRS. PENNY MITCHELL who is know applying for a pension as the widow of GEORGE MITCHELL decd. This Applicant further states that GEORGE MITCHELL was physically married to PENNY MITCHELL on the 17th day of March 1782 and that they lived together as man and wife from that time to the 3rd day of September 1837 until GEORGE MITCHELL died---and his widow PENNY MITCHELL has remained a widow ever since the said GEORGE MITCHELL died.
