Francis Cogdal to Peter Johnston
No. Carolina Johnston County
To all Whome these presents shall come Francis Cogdall of the Province and 
County aforesaid Planter send Greeting, Know ye that I the said Francis Cogdell 
do for in consideration of the sum of forty pounds proc money to me in hand paid 
by Peter Johnson the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself to have 
been fully contented satisfied and paid have granted bargained sold elien 
enfeoffed and by these presents do fully and absolutely give grant bargain sell 
elien enfeof convey and set over unto the said Peter Johnson his heirs and 
assigns a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and twenty 
acres more or less being part of a patant granted to James Conner the tent day 
of October Anno Dom 1755 and in the XXIX year of the asign of our late Soveriegn 
Lord King Geo the Second and conveyd from the said Francis Cogdell refference to 
the sd deed may more fully appear, situated in Johnston County aforesaid on the 
No. side of little river being part of the land contained in the said patent 
butted and bounded as follows Begining at a white oak to Raifords line to a 
white oak on the river bank thence No. 160 pole to a pine thence Et to a pine in 
the county line so down the said county line to the first station together with 
all the woods buildings improvements to and appurtenances there unto belonging 
to have and to hold the aforesaid tract or messuage of land with the 
appurtenances and every part thereof unto the said Peter Johnson his heirs and 
assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the sd Peter Johnson and of his 
heirs and assigns for ever and the sd Francis Cogdell and my heirs and assigns 
the said mentioned and granted premises with the appurtenances unto the said 
Peter Johnson his heirs and assigns the said Peter Johnson yealding and paying 
to his majesty his heirs and successor the quitrents or four shill proc money pr 
hundred from the date of these presents and I the said Francis Cogdell against 
my heirs and assigns and every other person or persons will warrant and for ever 
defend the above mentioned premises by these presents 
In Witness whereof I the said Francis Cogdell have hereunto set my hand affixed 
my seal this 7th day of April Anno domi 1767.
