Johnston County, NC - Deeds File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Elton Cooke Ole Mal Richardson seemed to make it a habit in his later years to make buyers come to him in Sampson County to execute deeds. It's a little confusing to see Sampson County at the top of the deed when the land involved is in Johnston but that's the way it was done. _______________________________________________________________________________ 1883 M. Richardson once owned a large amount of land near Selma, N.C. along Buffalo Road (S.R. 1003) in the vicinity of Live Oak Church. The grantee, A. J. (Andrew Jackson) Cook, gave the 50 acres involved in this transaction to his daughter Allie Cook in 1884 while reserving a life estate for himself and wife Nancy. Allie later married William Exum Earp and they sold the property to W. B. Oliver in 1891. This 50 acres is the property mentioned in the 1891 Will of A. J.'s wife Nancy Cook. ______________________________________________________________________________ USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
