Cook Deed to Stephen Morris State of North Carolina Johnston County This Deed made this 3rd day of November 1881 by James H. Cook and wife Sary P. Cook his wife of Johnston County and State of North Carolina to Stephen H. Morris of the County of Wilson and State of North Carolina, Witnesseth: That said James H. Cook and wife Sary P. Cook in consideration of the sum of One hundred and Fifty six Dollars to them paid by Stephen H. Morris of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained sold and conveyed to the said Stephen H. Morris and his heirs a tract or parcel of land in Johnston County and State of North Carolina, adjoining the lands of Guion Earp and others bounded as follows, Viz: Beginning at a stake in the road near the old Still place running thence S 77 E 114 pole to a stake, thence S 103 pole to Buffalow thence up Buffalo in between to two runs at the road a Pine stump, thence up said road 59 pole to the beginning containing Fifty two Acres more or less. To have and to hold with all privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said Stephen H. Morris his heirs and assigns, to them and their only use and behalf. And the said James H. Cook and Sary P. Cook his wife do covenant that they are seized of said premises in fee and have right to convey the same in fee simple, that the same are free from all incumbrances, and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whatsoever. Cook his wife personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the within deed of sale and the said Sary P. Cook being by me privately examined separate and apart from her said husband touching her voluntary execution of the same, doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other person and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
