Josiah HINNANT, Sr. & John RAPER both of Johnston Co., NC
13 Nov 1835

This Indenture made this thirteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one 
thousand Eight hundred & thirty five between Josiah HINNANT, Sr. of the county 
of Johnston & State of North Carolina of the one part & John RAPER of the same 
County & State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Josiah 
HINNANT for an in Consideration of the sum of Two hundred & fifty dollars to him 
in hand paid by the said John RAPER before the Sealing & delivering of these 
premises the rect. & payment is fully acknowledged have bargained sold & 
delivered unto the said John RAPER one certain tract or parcel of land lying & 
being in the County & State aforesaid. Beginning at a pine in the head of a 
Branch runs thence East two hundred poles to a pine, thence North one hundred & 
Sixty poles to Red Oak - thence West two hundred poles to a Water oak in a pond 
near Samuel GODWINS-thence South to the Beginning Containing two hundred acres 
of Land lying & being in the County & State aforesaid & I the said Josiah 
HINNANT, Sr. do Warrant & forever defend the said land & premises free & clear 
from all encumbrances whatsoever unto him the said John RAPER his heirs & 
assigns forever. In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal the day & 
year above Written.
