Johnston County, NC - Martin Woodall to Benjamin Rose, 1815 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Johnston County Deed Book H #2, pg 303 - 345 acres This Indenture made the 15th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen between Martin Woodall of the State of North Carolina, and County of Johnston of the one part, planter, and Benjamin Rose of the same State and County aforesaid, of the other part, witnesseth: that the said Martin Woodall for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to him in hand paid at and before the signing and sealing of these presents, the receipt and payment hereof is hereby acknowledged, that I am therewith fully satisfied, contented and paid, have given, granted, bargained and sold unto him the said Benjamin Rose his heirs and assigns forever, a certain piece, or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the aforesaid county mostly on the north side of Hannah's Creek, beginning at a stake on the run of said Creek in the line of a 50 acre patent granted to Matthew Mather, and runs said line N 15 pole to a stake the beginning of said patent in the line of a patent granted to Thomas Spikes for 150 acres then said line S 83 poles crossing the creek to a pine, the corner of said patent; then N 120 poles crossing the creek to a pine, the corner of said patent then N 120 poles crossing the creek again to a black gum near the mouth of Stoney fork, the corner, then W 49 poles to a black gum the beginning tree of another patent granted to Mathew Mathis for 50 acres, then with said line N 80 poles to a pine; then W 104 poles to a pine; then S 82 poles to a black gum in the line of the Spikes patent; then said line W 49 poles to a large dead pine, the beginning of said patent, then S 74 poles to a stake the last corner of a patent then granted to Jacob Woodall Senior, for 100 acres; then said patent line W 129 poles to a pine, the corner on the west side of the road, then S 127 poles to a hickory, then E 126 poles to a pine, the beginning tree of said patent, then the same course 54 poles to the run of Hannahs Creek in the Mill Pond, then down the meanders of the creek to the beginning, containing three hundred and forty five acres, be the same more or less. One acre excepted for the use of the mill To have and to hold the aforesaid land and premises with all and singular, the privileges, profits, benefits and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in ay appertaining unto him, the said Benjamin Rose, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Martin Woodall doth for myself, my heirs, executors and administrtors, covenant and agree to warrant and forever defend the said land and premises free and clear from or against the lawful claim of any manner of persons whatsoever, unto him the said Benjamin Rose his heirs and assigns forever.
