Johnston County, NC - Lewis Jernigan, Jr. to Benjamin Rose, 1800 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Johnston County Deed Book Z #1, pg 65 - 100 acres This indenture made the 2nd day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred between Lewis Jernigan Jr of the State of North Carolina, and County of Johnston of the one part and Benjamin Rose of the same State and County aforesaid, of the other part, witnesseth: that the said Lewis Jernigan for and in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds specie to him in hand before the signing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof, is hereby acknowledged, he the said Lewis Jernigan hath granted, bargained and sold, aliened, released and confirmed and by these presents do grant, bargain, and sell, alien and release and confirm unto the said Benjamin Rose, his heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying, and being in the state and county aforesaid upon the south side of Mill Creek and waters of the Sarah Walker Branch, viz: beginning at a pine in Edward Stevens' line where said Rose's old line joins said Stevens' and runs with said Rose's own line south 30 degrees west one hundred and fifty poles to his corner, a stake, then with his other line south 96 poles to Jernigan's corner a pine; thence along Jernigan's line west 45 poles to a pine; thence north two hundred poles to the old Davis line; thence with the old Davis line, one hundred and thirty poles to a stake; thence a straight line to the beginning containing by estimation one hundred acres of land be the same more or less it being part of a tract of land granted to Atkinson bearing date 1790, together with all ways, woods, waters, and every other appurtenance thereunto belonging or appertaining, and the said Lewis Jernigan for himself, his heirs, executors and administrators hath hereby sold, set over, conveyed, released and confirmed in open market, unto the said Benjamin Rose, his heirs and assigns, the said Lewis Jernigan for himself, his heirs, executors, and administrators, doth hereby covenant, promise to and with the said Benjamin Rose his heirs and assigns that he the said Lewis Jernigan his heirs, executors, and administrators shall and will warrant, secure and forever defend the said tract or parcel of land and premises with all and every of its members and appurtenances free from all lawful claims, of any or persons whatsoever unto the said Benjamin Rose, his heirs, and assigns forever.
