Stevens of Johnston County our true and lawful attorney for us and in our names and our use and behalf to sell and dispose of our right title and interest in and to a certain lot in the town of Smithfield numbered in the plan of said town as no. [blank] at present occupied by Duncan McPherson, also all our right, title and interest in and to a certain piece of land on Buffalow in said county, containing twenty-seven acres, more or less, which said lot of land formerly belonged to Susan Stevens the mother of said Polly Rose, and we the said Thomas and Polly Rose do hereby authorize our said attorney to sign, seal and execute, in our names and or our behalf, any and all deeds that may be necessary to assume the title to the purchase or purchases – There by satisfying all our said attorney may do in the premises Wit 27 March 1838 Att M.
