Rose, Esqr Mill Creek Dear Brother In writing you this letter I have the pleasure of saying to you that I have been well since I have been here with the exception of chills & a bad cold. I had 2 chills after writing that letter to Bro. Wm and I can say that I am very well satisfied so far and spend the time very agreeable only when I have been sick then it seemed very long, it is bad you know to be sick at home but it is a great deal worse when you are away. I have been gone almost two months and have not heard from one of you since I left. It seems to me to be a very long time. I thought some of you would have written to me before now, you must have forgotten me. I would be very glad to hear from you. I want you to set down and write me a full letter and let me know how you are getting along in a plain letter and 1st How all the folks are 2 “ All the news in the neighbor hood 3 “ What for crop did you make how many bbls of corn and what corn is worth and how many potatoes & pease &c and how crops were generally 4 “ How many bbls of turpentine you made and whether you have sold it or not and how much you got for it and what turpentine is worth now 5 “ I would like to know how your Mill operates now, whether or not you have got to sawing. I told you that you would never surv with it fixed as it was when I saw it last, is it so or not: I hope it will be profitable 6 “ If you get in the notion to court any lady let me know it. I will keep it for ever a secret and be sure that you don’t get in to great a fever to get married 7 “ Write me all the courting news of the neighborhood 8 “ Write me how Martin & Esthure are getting on. I hate to trouble you with them but you know how I am situated and you have acted the part of a true brother so far and I can only ask you to continue so. I don’t recollect whether I told you anything about their winter clothes or not, but you know what they need and tend them every way as if they were your own and be satisfied that all things will be wright so far as you and I are concerned I hope to spend several days with you next summer when I come home. I am very lonely now you must suppose here among 600 students and not a single person that I ever seen befor among them but it has almost becom natural to me now though you know they are not like old acquaintances you know Avera I hope this will reach you well and in good spirits and I hope you will write to me immediately as I want to hear from you all You can write me a long letter if you will I hope it will be a long one.
