Ruth Andrews is a resident of Smithfield and is married to W.A. Andrews. She has studied art under Mrs. Stuart Davis of Louisburg, and Christine Massey, Carol Boviall and Dot Hooks. 2. Susan O. Avera is the 18-year-old daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Samuel Thomas Avera of Smithfield. Susan will attend East Carolina University in the fall with a major in Art. She is presently studying under Dot Hooks. 3. Doris W. Bingham is a resident of Smithfield. She has studied under Robert Holt, Christine Massey and Carol Boviall under sponsorship of Johnston Technical Institute. She is now studying with Dorothy Hooks, specializing in watercolor. 4. Carol Boviall is a resident of Smithfield and is married to L. Thomas Boviall. Carol graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a minor in Art and has studied Art at Meredith College and N.C. State University at Raleigh. 5. Ansalie Holland (Holly) Brown is the 19-year-old daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Alvin D. Brown. Holly is a student at Meredith College. She studied Art under Mrs. John Hobart. 6. Lacey Ruth Coates is a resident of Smithfield and wife of Roy Coates. She has studied art with Dottie Milla, Bethesda, Maryland and Shirley Harris of Wheaton, Maryland. 7. Frank Creech son of Mrs. Emma Creech and the late Durwood Creech. Mr. Creech is employed as a teacher at Gaston Community College. He studied Art at Duke and received a master’s degree in art at the University of Florida. 8. Andrew H. Gemmell formerly of Wilmington, N.C. is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Business Administration. He is married to the former Emma Alice Avera, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Thomas Avera of Smithfield. He is currently attending classes under Dot Hooks. 9. Frankie Finch Hobart is a resident of Smithfield and is married to John Hobart. Frankie majored in Art and History at Greensboro College and is certified to teach art in Secondary Schools. Frankie has taught Art in Salisbury and Smithfield. Frankie is the daughter of Mrs. Kelly Hayes and the late W.A. Finch of Smithfield. 10. Ellis (Buddy) Hooks is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thel Hooks and is a resident of Tarboro, N.C. Buddy attended Atlantic Christian College. 11. Dot Hooks is a native of Smithfield, graduate of Parsons School of Art in New York and has worked as a professional photographer. Ms. Hooks is also a teacher of Art in Smithfield. 12. Riet Joseman was born in Holland and attended schools in The Hague, Utrecht, and Hilnersum. She moved to Smithfield in 1972. She studied Art while in Holland and is presently studying under Dot Hooks. 13. Joan Denning Kight is a resident of Smithfield and married to Bob Kight. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Denning. She has studied Art under Carol Boviall. 14. Rose Lampe is a resident of Smithfield and is wife of J. Harold Lampe. Mrs. Lampe is studying Art under Dorothy Hooks. 15. John Mitchell is a local artist and teaches Art at Smithfield Selma Senior High School. Mr. Mitchell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Mitchell. 16. Faye Strickland is a resident of Smithfield and is married to Bobby Strickland. Faye is owner of Faye’s Hairstyling Studio. 17. Stephanie Barbour Taylor is a native of Smithfield. She studied at the University of N. C. at Chapel Hill and received M.A.T. degree in Art. She is currently employed as an Art teacher at Columbia High School, Columbia, S.C. 18. Ann Finch Waddell is a native of Smithfield now living in Greenville, N.C. Ann is married to H.G. Waddell. She studied Art at Greensboro College and East Carolina University. Ann is daughter of Mrs. Kelly Hayes and the late W.A. Finch. 19. Jimmy P. Clapp is a supervisor in the Department of Public Utilities for the Town of Smithfield. Mr. Clapp is a native of Oklahoma. He has had no formal tutoring in Art. 20. Robert F. Wallace is a resident and Mayor of Town of Smithfield. Mr. Wallace has studied Art under Dorothy Hooks. 21. Cynthia Rose Wilkins is the 18-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wilkins of Smithfield. She is a member of the freshman class at Appalachian State University, Boone, where she is majoring in Art. Cynthia studied acrylic painting for two years with Frances Z.
