Johnston County, NC - Green's Path & the Bettis Family Copyright. All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by Julie Bettis Currier - gypsiewagon@yahoo.com The article on Green's Path in Johnson County, NC discusses the role of 3 of my ancestors along Green's Path. Francis Bettis is my 5Greatgrandfather. He was married to Mary Evans. The property he owned was later sold to Mary Evans father, Charles Evans. Wilson's Mills was the home of John Wilson's mill. John Wilson's daughter Mary Wilson was married to John Bettis, Francis Bettis' son. John and Mary Bettis are my 4Ggreatgrandparents who later resided in Cumberland Co. NC and Edgefield (old 96) SC. Averasboro was founded by Thomas Avera, whose son Henry married Francis Bettis's daughter Judith Bettis. I haven't any information on the Mr. Green who traveled the path. However, I know that Francis Bettis's father moved to Pasquotank Co. North Carolina from Virginia. There are many Green's found in Virginia counties that the Bettis's resided in, such as Henrico, James River County, Charles River County, and the Williamsburg and Richmond areas. Maybe the Bettis's initial contact with Mr. Green occurred in Virginia.
