James W. Eason The Standard of Raleigh, April 8, 1863 Death of Sergeant James W. Eason Died, at Howard Grave Hospital, Richmond, Va., on the 12th ult., of confluent small pox, SERGEANT JAMES W. EASON, Company C, 6th North Carolina Troops. The deceased was from Johnston County, North Carolina. He volunteered at the beginning of hostilities and was severely wounded at the battle of Williamsburg. On recovering he rejoined his company and fouoght gallantly through the Maryland Campaign and at the battle of Fredericksburg. He was thence sent to the Hospital at Richmond, to be treated for Bronchitus and there contracted the fatal disease which terminated his earthly career. He was a dutiful son,, an affectionate brother, a gallant soldier and a devoted Christian.
