Y.J. Strickland being by me an acting Justice of the Peace in and for the 
County of Johnston duly sworn says that he was personally acquainted from 
boyhood with Young Lee who was the husband of Joanna Lee (formerly Joanna 
Ingram) and that he knows of his own personal knowledge that the said Young 
Lee was a soldier in the Confederate Army and that the said Young Lee died 
from a disease contracted while a prisoner at Elmira in the state of New York 
sometime during the year 1864.

I W.S. Stevens of said county do hereby certify that N.W. Smith is an acting
