Rutledge Houston, Texas Dear Madam: I advise you from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim, W.11084, it appears that Jesse Green, while residing in Johnston County, North Carolina, enlisted in 1781 and served six months as a private in Captain Nathan Whitfield's Company, Colonel John Herritage's North Carolina Regiment. Shortly after the above service, he moved to Edgecombe County, North Carolina, and while residing in that place, enlisted and served three months as a private in Captain Theophilus Thomas' Company, Colonel Johnston's North Carolina Regiment. He also stated that he served in the North Carolina Militia, no dates, details of service or officers names given. He was allowed pension on his application executed August 27, 1832, while a resident of Johnston County, North Carolina, aged sixty-eight years. He died February 9, 1853, at his residence in Franklin County, North Carolina. The soldier married in December 1823 or in the winter of 1830, in Johnston County, North Carolina, Mary Price. She was allowed pension on her application executed February 17, 1853, while a resident of Franklin County, North Carolina, aged fifty-five years. In 1868, she was residing in Greene County, North Carolina, and stated that since 1861 she had lived in Nash, Wilson and Greene counties with her children, whose names are not given. She died November 13, 1878. A daughter, Martha A., was aged twenty years in 18-- and then resided in Franklin County, North County. One Martin V. Green was living in 1879, no relationship stated; the name Martha Ann Green also appears. Very truly yours, Earl D.
