Johnston County, NC - Obituaries File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Gina Clingan In Johnston Co., NC, on the 24th day of February 1855, after an illness of four days, Lelaria Oliver, wife of Robert M. Oliver, died in the 37th year of her life. The deceased professed conversion and joined the Baptist church about sixteen years previous to her death, during which time she lived a consistent member. And when death came, though quick and unexpected, her faith appeared unwavoring. Her attack was so violent that she seemed conscious of her hastening dissolution-yet unalarmed, expressing no fear of death, but her readiness to go, sorrowing only for those little ones that she was about to leave behind. Feeling that though her "earthly tabernacle would soon be dissolved," she "had a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." The deceased has left an afflicted husband, four children, and many friends to mourn their loss. W.H.W. The Biblical Recorder Raleigh, N.C.
