Johnston County, NC - Obituary of John W. Radford, 1947 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Goldsboro News Argus Dec. 29, 1947 Stricken Fatally Smithfield - John W. Radford, 67, of Princeton Rt. 1, died Friday afternoon of a sudden heart attack while enroute to Florida to spend the winter with his son, Andrew Radford of Belle Glade. He was in the car with two grandsons, Frank and Earl Radford, who were taking him to Florida when the heart attack suddenly occurred about fifteen miles south of Fayetteville on Highway 15 A. One of the grandson reported that they had eaten an early supper in Fayetteville and that his grandfather seemed all right at that time. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the home of a nephew, Chester Radford of Princeton, Route 1, and burial was in the Woodard family cemetery near Holt's Mill. The Rev. W. H. Lancaster of Smithfield was in charge. Surviving are one son, Andrew of Belle Glade, Fla; one daughter, Mrs. George Smith of Fremont R. F. D.; two brothers, George Radford and Henry Radford of Goldsboro Route 4; one half brother, Hillery Radford of Jackson Springs; two sisters, Mrs. V. V. Lee of Fremont R. F. D. and Mrs. Florence Overman of Princeton Route 1; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
