Johnston County, NC - Obits - John Exum Sauls, 1972 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Smithfield Herald, June 9, 1972 John Exum Sauls, WW1 Vet, Dies John Exum Sauls of Rt. 1 Selma died Wednesday in Johnston Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was 75 years of age. The funeral was scheduled for 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in Parrish Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter E. Parrish officiating. Graveside services were scheduled for 4 o'clock Friday in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham with the Rev. Malbert Smith officiating. He was employed with Burlington Industries in Durham 22 years before retiring to Johnston County. He was a native of this county, a son of the late L.J. and Dezi Johnson Sauls. Mr. Sauls was a veteran of World War I when he served in the US Army. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susie Rhodes Sauls, one daughter, Mrs. Agnes L. Falcon of New Orleans, La., two sons, J.E. Sauls Jr. of Littleton, Colorado and Garland L. Sauls of Durham; two step daughters, Mrs. Oscar Medlin of Selma and Mrs. Hubert Woodard of Newport News, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Lois Elliott of Durham and Mrs. Mildred Cummings of California; two brothers, Ernest Sauls of Runnemede, NJ and Harvey Sauls of Durham; eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. __________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
