A. W. & Claudia Rose with child, Vonnie Mae Rose.

Arthur Whitney Rose (my grandfather) is one of nine children. 

His mother (Julia Amanda Rose...his father's first cousin) died when he was 
only 5-6 years of age. 

His father remarried Bethany Johnson in 1895. She bore 4 more children.  

Arthur worked for the PA railroad as a brakeman according to his census record 
of Jan. 1920 and also his death certificate of 1930.

He worked prior to that in Goldsboro...and I cannot make out the company..it 
looks like G. J. or G. T. or G. F. Manufacturing @ 1917 according to his 
Military Registration paperwork. I know his father, John James Rose did other 
things other than farming. He owned some other businesses ..so don't know if 
this could be one of them?

My mother (Vonnie Mae) was born in June of 1920. Her father (Arthur) was 
killed in a tragic railroad accident when she was only 10 years of age in 
August of 1930..only 2 months after his father's death.

Claudia Mae Lee is also one of nine children.  Her father didn't marry until 
he was almost 60 years of age!  I don't have a death record of Minnie Frances 
Eldridge (her mother).  All I can go by is her headstone in the Lee Family 
Cemetery.  That is another thing I would have to investigate in the Johnston 
County Vital Records.
