Mary O. Coates

Inscription on tombstone reads: In loving memory of our mother, Mary O. 
Coates, Wife of Thomas Coates. She lived as she died a Christian
Buried at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Cleveland, NC; Johnston Co. 



Additional Comments:
Note: There are no dates on this headstone. Based on family research, it is 
believed that Mary O. Coates is Mary Obeda "Bedie" Stevens.She was probably 
born abt 1825 in Johnston County, NC. It is unclear if her maiden name was 
Stevens or Stephenson.

The Tombstone has been damaged (broken in two pieces) and has been roughly 
repaired. 

This cemetery has many Coates and Coats burial plots. Thomas and Mary O. 
Coates/Coats are alongside Cleveland Road.
