Register of Marriages Southampton Co, VA
Know all men by these presents that we Benjamin Rose & Anselem Harper are held 
and firmly bound unto Edmund Randolph Esqr. governor of the Commonwealth of 
Virginia in the sum of fifty pounds to be paid to the said governor & his 
successors to which payment well & truly to be made we bind ourselves and each 
of us our & each of our heirs exors and admors jointly & severally fimly by 
these presents Seald with our hands & dated this 12th day of Nov 1787.
The condition of this obigation is such that whereas there is a marriage 
suddenly intended to be solemnised between the sd Benjamin Rose and Lucy Harper 
now if there is no lawfull cause to obstruct the sd intended marriage then this 
obligation to be void or else to remain in full force & virtus.
