Devised June 26, 1846, Proven November 24, 1846. I Wilsey Barber of the County of Johnston and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence I make and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following. First That my executor hereinafter named shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of all my friends and relations and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts howsoever and whomsoever owing out of the moneys that may first come into his hands as part or parcel of my estate. Item 1st I give and devise to my daughter Lucy H. Johnson one feather bed and furniture and one side board and one chest and one side saddle and one wollen wheel and one large dutch oven and one shote. Item 2nd I give and devise to my youngest daughter Sarah C. Johnson one feather bed and furniture and one red chest and one other small chest and one looking glass and one wollen wheel and one small dutch oven, and all the weaving gear and all kitchen furniture to be equally divided between my two daughters Lucy H. Johnson and Sarah Johnson and one shote apiece. Item 3rd I give and devise to my two sons Elbright [Elbridge] and Henry Johnson one mare and cart all my plow and cart gear and one shoat apiece and to my youngest son Henry C. Johnson one saddle and bridle to be furnished out of my estate. Item 4th I give and devise to my daughter Mary Barber one cow and calf and one griddle and one blue sow and one shote. Item 5th I give and devise to my daughter Susan Johnson one bowfat one table and one shote. Item 6th I give and [devise to] John Barber, Sr. the sum of five dollars to be paid out of my estate. Item My will and desire is that all the residue of my estate if any after taking out the devises and legacies above mentioned shall be sold and the debts owing to me collected and if there should any surplus over and above the payments of debts expenses and legacies that such surplus shall be equally divided and paid over to all my children in equal portion and share alike to them and each and every of them their executors administrators and assigns forever. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved son Elbridge A. Johnson my lawful executor for all intent and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof hereby revoling and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I the said Wilsey Barber do hereto set my hand and seal this 26th day of June AD 1846.
