Johnston County, NC - Will of Arthur Gurley, 1761 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Will of Arthur Gurley Johnston County 1761 North Carolina Johnston County In the name of God Amen I Arthur Gurley planter of the County and Province afore being sick and weak but of a sound mind and disposing memory thanks be to God for it calling to mind the Great mortality of making I for the better setting of my temporal affairs do make & ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following------- Imps first I give my soul to God who gave it to me & my body to be buried in a decent order at the discretion of my Executors Item I give to my brother Joseph Gurley three cows and calves & a tract of land containing two hundred acres & eight two year old hogs Item I give to my brother Nathan Gurley a seven year old horse and a rifle gun and five two year old hogs and five year old hogs Item I also give to my brother Joseph Gurley two breeding cows and two barrels of corn Item I give to Alexander Pool half a barrel of corn and two new baskets Item I give to my mother in law Kezia Gurley my two chests Item I give to my brother Nathan Gurley my coat jacket and breeches and a narrow ax And lastly I appoint my brother Joseph Gurley and Nathan Gurley my whole and sole Executors of this my last will and testament revoking all other will or wills heretofore by me made Arthur Gurley Signed sealed and acknowledged in presence of us Alexander Pool (his mark) Kezia Gurley (her mark) ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
