Devised February 9, 1817 Proven November 29, 1820 State of N.C. Johnston County In the name of God Amen, The ninth day of February Anno Domini One thousand Eight Hundred and Seventeen. I Abel Johnson of the County and State aforesaid Being Sick of Body But of sound & perfect Memory thanks Be to Almighty God and Calling to mind the Uncertain Estate of this Transitory Life and that all Flesh was made once to die I do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner as followeth, first- I Recommend my Soul to Almighty God that made it and my Body to be Decently Buried at the Discression of my Executors hereafter mentioned and for the Settlement of my Temporal Estate and such goods and chattels as it hath pleased God to bestow on me I do order give and Dispose the same in Manner and form following, Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Amos Johnson one feather Bed and furniture to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Nancy Johnson one Bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Elizabeth Johnson one Bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Edith Johnson one Bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Jonathan Johnson twenty shillings to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Henry Johnson twenty shillings to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved [son] Samuel Johnson twenty shillings to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Sally Dupree twenty shillings to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Ann Johnson the Land and plantation whereon I now live, and all the plantation tools and crop of all kind and all household furniture, all my horses, Cattle, hogs, and Stock of all kinds, also the notes and Judgments Due me and Cash in hand I leave for my Debts to be settled out of and the balance I give to my wife also During her natural life; And after her Decease, I leave the land and premises and all the goods and Chattels that I give to my wife to be Equally Divided Between my three youngest Daughters (viz) Nancy Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, and Edith Johnson to them and their heirs forever. I do Hereby Nominate, Constitute and appoint my sons Jonathan Johnson and Henry Johnson full and sole Executors of this my last will and testament Hereby Disannulling and making Void all other or former wills and testaments by me made this only being my last will and testament in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal. Rm. Sanders, Clk Recorded in the Clerks office of said County in Book No. 9, page 384. Rm Sanders, Clk. Johnston County, North Carolina Court Minutes, Volume 11, 1819-1822, p. 138. Thursday, November 29, 1820 Was exhibited in open Court for probate the last Will and Testament of Amos [Abel] Johnson decd. which was duly proven by the Oaths of Reuben H. Johnson one of the subscribing witnesses thereunto which was ordered to be Recorded when Henry Johnson one of the Executors named in said Will came into Court and Qualified agreeable to Law.
