Devised October 28, 1872, Proven May 5, 1873. State of North Carolina, Johnston County. I, Amos Johnson, of the County of Johnston and State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say: First, That my executrix (herein after named) shall provide for my body a decent burial, suitable to the wishes of my relations and friends, and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts, howsoever and to whomsoever owing, out of the money that may first come into her hands as part or parcel of my estate. Second, I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Sally Johnson during her life or widowhood my stock of every kind, also my household and kitchen furniture, all notes and account due me at my death, charging upon said notes and accounts all such debts as may be outstanding against my estate and the surplus if any I give to my said wife, also all money on hand at my death, also all my farming implements and mechanical tools of every kind, also all the crops of every description and all the provisions on hand at the time of my death to be hers during her lifetime or widowhood, then to be equally divided between my six daughters (Harriet Parish, Elizabeth Langdon, Dilly Johnson, Emily Earp, Sally Allen, and Eleanor Lassiter) to them share and share alike, and to them and their heirs forever. And lastly I do hereby constitute my wife Sally Johnson my Executrix to this my last will and testament to all intents and purposes to carry into effect every part and clause thereof, hereby declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I the said Amos Johnson do hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th day of October A.D. 1872. Amos Johnson Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Amos Johnson to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence do subscribe our names as witnesses thereto. Josephus Johnson John A. Woodall Johnston County, Probate Court, May 5, 1873. Sally Johnson being duly sworn says: 1. That she is the Executor named in the will of Amos Johnson, deceased. 2. That the value of the testator's property is about $250, consisting of stock, farming implements, household and kitchen furniture, and other articles of personal property. 3. That herself, Harriet Parish, Betsy Langdon, Dilly Johnson, Emily Earp, Sarah Allen, and Eleanor Lassiter, are entitled to the Testator's property, that the said parties are all of the age of 21 years and all residents of Johnston County.
