Proven November 29, 1769.

[         ] ame of God Amen
[         ] the County of Johnston & Parish of Saint 
[         ] and weak in Body but Thanks be to 
[         ] fect memory and knowing the uncertainty
[         ] he and Declare this my last Will
[         ] er and form following Viz.
[         ] commend my soul to God who Gave
[         ] es and in the m___ of my Dear
[         ] ll my sins desireing my Body 
[         ] Christian Burial and to the 
[         ] it hath Pleased Almighty God to
[         ] l my just debts are paid
[         ] nd Dispose of in the following
[         ] d bequeath to my loving Wife
[         ] the Plantation whereon I now live
[         ] Named Lucy and one Negro Whench
[         ] he Household furniture and all my
[         ] life or widowhood.
[         ] my loving son Samuel Johnson
[         ] runs of Land lying on both sides of White Oke
[         ] tion that has been Called his
[         ] loving son Sill Johnson one
[         ] of Land lying on both sides the said
[         ] nd Runing down the said swamp
[         ] and bequeath to my loving son
[         ] nd fifty six acres of Land lying on both
[         ] bove lot.
[         ] son Richard Johnson one Hundred
[         ] th sides the swamp joining that.
[         ] my loving Son Philip Johnson
[         ] ix Acres of Land on both sides the
[         ] hereon I now live

Thus, significant text is missing.   Court Minutes confirm that this is the 
will of Richard Johnson.  It is marked “____ Johnson 1769” on the folder.

November 29, 1769, The last Will & Testament of Richard Johnston Deceased was 
in open Court provd by the oath of Bettie Johnson one of the subscribing 
Witnesses according to Law when Phereby Johnson Executrix of the said Deceast 
came into Court and qualifyd as Executrix Letters to be granted hereafter. . .
