Noncupative Will of Elijah Reeves
Johnston County, North Carolina
February 1781

State of North Carolina }
Montgomery County       }

          This day came before me, a Justice of the peace for said county, 
Capt. Thomas Chiles, who deposeth & saith, That a civilain (sic civilian), 
Elijah Reves, who for some time lay sick & died at his house; did when in his 
proper senses profess & say it was his will & pleasure that the property which 
he died possessed of should remain & continue in the possession & at the 
disposal of his, the widow of the said Reves deceased, for the purpose of 
raising & supporting the children of the said deceased.
          Given under my hand this 25th of February, 1781

Johnston County
          David Prince came into the Court of the sd. County & made oath that 
the above verbal Disposition of the estate of Eley Reaves was made in his 
presence & hearing & committed to writing as above within Six days from the 
time of speaking the said to word & that at the same time there was present 
more than three persons.

          Then was the will Presented into Open Court & ordered to be 
Registered.

Sept 5th Day 1781
          Then was the Will Registered in the Registers Office of Said County 
& in Book L, Page 163.

Noncupative will of Elijah Reeves recorded by statement of Capt. Thomas Chiles 
in Montgomery County.  Later recorded in Johnston County Will Book L at page 
163.
