All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Watson http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00029.html#0007196 December 31, 2011, 11:57 am Source: Original In North Carolina Archives At Raleigh Written: August 28, 1791 Recorded: November 28, 1791 Johnston County, North Carolina Will Book 1 Page 50 In the Name of God Amen the 28th Day of August 1791 I Frederick Reeves of Johnston County in the State of North Carolina planter Being very sick and weak of Body But of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God - Therefore Calling unto mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die Do make & ordain this my Last will & Testament That is to say principally & first of all I give & Recommend my soul into the hands of god that gave it and my Body I Recommend to the Earth to be Buryed in a Decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors nothing Doubting But at the generall Resurrection I shall Receive the same again by rthe mighty power of god and as touching my worldly Estate which it hath pleased god to Bless me with in this Life I give and Dispose of the same in the following maner & form vis - first I Lend During her natural life to Bettey my Dearly Beloved wife one Bay mare named Pegg - two Cows & Calves - one two year old heifer one two year old Stear & five two year old Hogs one Sow & five pigs Also all my Household furniture Consisting of Beds loom &c &c and plantation tools with all my Redy money now in hand and note against Alexd Smith for three pounds/2 Shillings all the Rest of my Estate Real and Personall I give and Bequeath unto my Children - and to be Sold and the money arising to be Equaly Divided among them to wit Lydia Hartwell Syntha and if my wife should have another Child within the space of nine months from the Date hereof that same shall Inherite an Equel share with the Rest of my Children that is all Redy named - I Do likewise Constitute make and ordain my Beloved wife Bettey Executetrix (sic) and John Stephens Executor of this my Last will and Testament and I Do hereby actually Disallow Revoke & Disanull all and Every other former will Testament Legacees & Bequests and Exectr By me in any ways Before named Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my Last will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal the Day and year above Written.
