John Stevens 1777 will

To beloved wife Mourning Stevens one Negro man called Peter and one Negro 
woman named Hager, two cows and calves, one feather bed and furniture, other 
household items named; my plantation whereon I now live during her natural 
life and after her decease to be sold and the proceeds equally divided between 
my children, viz

James, Elizabeth, John, Needham and Susanna and the child my wife now goes 
with if any.

To wife the remainder of my estate, real and personal, to support and maintain 
the whole family and to school the children till my eldest son James shall 
arrive of the age of twenty one. At the expiration of the said term of time I 
desire the residue of my estate, real and personal, equally divided among my 
children above named.

Executors: Friends Benjamin Williams Senr. and Edmond Stevens

Witnesses: Jacob Stevens, Cary Jernigan, Joseph Sandefur
