Johnston County, NC - Will & Estate Records File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Ron Strickland (Last Will and Testament of Davis Strickland also known as Daniel Davis Strickland October 12, 1806 in Johnston CO, NC) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Davis Strickland being sick of body but of a perfect and sound memory thanks be to god and calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory world and knowing that it is appointed once that all men must die when it hath please god to call and that I commit my soul unto the hands of almighty god who gave it and I trust that all my sins are and may be forgiven through the blood and merits of Jesus Christ in hopes that my soul with my body shall rise again at a general day of resurrection and that for my worldly Estate which it hath please god to bless me with far above my deserts may be ordered as followeth --------- 1: I will that my dear and loving wife Nansey shall have all my lands during her life or widowhood and after her decease I will that the said land or lands me be given as followeth VIZ That is to say that it is my will that my son Benjamin Strickland shall have all land over the Bay Branch and I will that my son David Strickland shall have all the land at the side of said Bay Branch - - and I will that if either of the above sons Benjamin or Davis should die before that they are in procession of the same that the surviving son shall possess and enjoy the whole property of the said land. I will that my daughter Abba Strickland shall have one feather bed and furniture. I will that my daughter Anny Strickland shall have one feather bed and furniture. I will that my daughter Saly (Sally?) Strickland shall have one feather bed and furniture. I will that the afore said beds and furniture are not to be sold or move not in eight year with out that my afore said daughters should marry but that they shall remain in the family for the use there of. I will that all the rest of my property real and personal shall be to my loving wife Nanse Strickland as afore said during her natural life or widowhood and I will that after my beloved wifes death or widowhood that this property may be sold to the best advantage and equally divided among my last five children to wit; Moses Strickland, Poly (Polly?) Strickland, Levy Strickland, Nansey Strickland, Diezey Strickland and I will that this my last Will and Testament in witness where of I have set my hand and seal 12th day of October 1806.
