Devised March 4, 1833 Proven August 25, 1834 In the name of God amen, I James Woodall Senr of the County of Johnston and State of North Carolina being weak of body but of a Sound disposing mind & memory blessed be God, do this 4th day of March A.D. 1833 make publish & declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following (to Wit) ­ first I recommend my Soul to God who gave it and my body to buried at the discression of my friends. Item, the first I lend to my beloved wife Polly Woodall during her natural life the following tract or parcel of land bounded as follows - Begining at a water oak in or near Gideon Woodalls line on the Cool Spring Branch Jacob T. Woodalls Corner runs with his line about west to a Stake then with his line about South passing through the lane to a Stake his Corner in Plyor Barbers. line then Et 58 poles along said and to a Stake then North 140 poles to a pine Stump then with the old pattent line to the Beginning Containing 100 acres be the Same more or less including the dwelling house and part of the plantation where I now live. And after the death of my wife I give and bequeath the above lands unto my son Jacob T. Woodall to him and his heirs forever. Item, I lend to my beloved wife Polly during her natural life one Negro man named Baltimore one horse Creature her Choice two Cows and Calves, her Choice, Six head of hogs and two Sows and pigs her Choice, four ewes and lambs her choice. I also lend to my wife Polly two feather beds & furniture her Choice, during her life and after her death I give and bequeath one of those feather beds to my grand daughter Mary Woodall (daughter of Gideon) to her and her heirs forever - I also lend to my wife Polly during her natural life one pot and dutch oven one skillet two dishes two basons Six plates one Case of knives and forks one dozen spoons, two Setts of water Vessels, one tray and meal Sifter one woolen wheel and cards one flax wheel one trunk and one chest. in the above articles She is to have the right of Choice.­ I also lend to my beloved wife Polly during her natural life one tea kettle one Coffee pot one Sett of Cups and Saucers one Coffee mill one Sett of tea Spoons Six earthen bowls one Cream pot two pitchers one decanter Six Sitting Chairs her choice one Sett of flatt Irons one Iron pot rack, two tables her choice one pare of fire Irons one Jar her choice two Jugs one loom and gear, two plow stocks and gier two free born plows and two Cutters one grubing hoe two axes her choice and Claw hamer all my shar tools two weeding hoes her choice one side Board two Bridles one Saddle and Curry Comb, one pare of Cloth Shears one pare of Sheep Shears one bread waiter her choice one cupboard, all my Cider Casks and Mobey Stands one still one horse Cart, all my fowls of every kind, I also leave to my wife a plentiful Support for herself and family for the term of one year to Consist of all necessary articles of provission Cotten flax wool and Shoe leather, I also lend to my beloved wife Polly one negro woman named Esther, during the term of her natural life also my Bible and hymn book one hand saw and drawing knife two augers and 2 chisels 2 gimblets. I also lend to my wife as above that is to say during her natural life the balance of my land which is about 250 acres. ­ Item, it is my will that all the above property loand to my wife Except that part which I have already disposed of Should after her death be sold at public Vendue (Viz) all that Shall then remain, and the monies arising from Such Sale be Equally divided between all my children to them and their heirs forever. Item, I leave to be sold all my property not above enumerated at publick Sale and the monies due me to be Collected and out of Such Sales & Collections my Just debts to be paid. Item I bequeath forty dollars of Said Monies to my Grand daughter, Mary Woodall (daughter of Gideon) to her and her heirs forever. The balance of the monies arising from Such Sales and Collection I leave to be Equally divided between all my children Namely Edith, Absalom, Elizabeth, Abner, James, Clement, Polly, Gideon, Sally, Jacob, and William to them and there heirs forever, And I do hereby Constitute and appoint my Son Jacob T. Woodall and Jesse Adams Executors of this my last Will and testament in testamony of which I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this day and date as above. August 25, 1834, Was Exhibited in open Court for probate the last Will and Testament of James Woodall Sen. decd. which was duly proven by the Oath of Plyer Barber one of the subscribing witness of signature of the decd. and the attestation of Matthew Barber subscribing witness and ordered to be Recorded.
