NORTH CAROLINA
Application for Repayment of United States Direct  
Jones, County                      
Tax by the Tax Payer Himself, Under Act of Congress Approved March 2, 1891.

Benj. Huggins, being duly sworn, doth depose and say, that in the year 1865 or 
1866 (erase the year in which the tax was not paid), he paid to the UNITED 
STATES TAX COLLECTOR the sum of one Dollars and sixty cents ($1.60), amount of 
direct tax assessed upon the land belonging to the applicant in Beaver Dam & 
Tuckahoe District, Jones County, North Carolina, as appears from the list of 
persons who paid the taxes, now in the possession of the Governor, and shown 
by stub No. 132 & 131 on the list in the office of Clerk of Superior Court of 
above mentioned county; that he obtained a receipt for such taxes, which is 
hencewith enclosed that this claim has not been in any manner transferred or 
assigned, and that he is the person entitled to receive the money claimed in 
this application.

Personally appeared before me (Left blank), to me personally known, who, I 
have reason to believe, is the veritable person who paid the taxes above 
mentioned, who being duly sworn, doth say that the above affidavit is true.
