Over the dead body

David Thompson 

July 17th 1866

Be it remembered that on the 17th day of July 1866 I Robt M. Bridges Coroner 
of said County attended by a jury of good and lawful men viz J.D. May, Wm 
Stewart, Thos. E. Pritchett Asa B. Mallard, James Griffin, Peter Felton, F.C. 
Gooding, David King, J.N. Shuts, J.L. Philips, Emmanuel King and W. Gilbert by 
me summoned for that purpose according to law after being by me duly sworn and 
empannelled at David Thompson (cold) in the County aforesaid did hold an 
inquest over the dead body of David Thompson and after inquiring unto the 
facts and circumstances of the death of the deceased from a view of the coops 
and all the testimony to procured the Jury find as follows. That is to say 
Witnefs Simon Miller duly sworn that he was at the fence near the house of 
David Thompson and went there to stay the night on the 16th day of July 1866 
and during the night he awoke and saw a man on the fence near him hollowing to 
some one at the door to break it open and then the man on the fence went to 
the house and then he heard the report of a fire arm. Then two men come back 
to the fence and got on a horse or mule he did not know which and went the 
road toward the Town of Trenton.  
Witnefs Amos Thompson duly sworn.
That he was in the house of David Thompson on the night of the murder and in 
the night there was some person
