Jones County, NC - Act to Amend Act to Incorporate Trenton ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter CIV An Act to amend an act, passed in 1803, entitled "an act to incorporate the town of Trenton, in Jones county" Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the free male inhabitants of said town shall meet at the court house on the first Saturday in April next, and on the same day annually thereafter shall elect three commissioners, who shall be freeholders in said town; which election shall be held by three freeholders, under the same rules, and regulations as other elections. And be it further enacted, That the said commissioners shall have power and authority to pass such bye-laws and regulations for the government of said town, as shall not be inconsistent with the Constitution and laws of this State. And be it further enacted, That all laws and clauses of laws coming within the purview and meaning of this act, be repealed. Chapter CV An act in addition to the several acts heretofore passed concerning the town of Trenton, in Jones county Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Christopher Bryan, Isaac Hathaway and Joseph Greene, be appointed commissioners, with power and authority to sell at some court in said county, on a credit of six months, all the lands within the town deed of Trenton, without the limits of said town, which has not heretofore been sold. Be it further enacted, That said commissioners are hereby authorised and empowered to convey and make a title to all the land which they may dispose of under this act. Be it further enacted, That all monies arising from the sale of said land shall be appropriated for the benefit of the county.
