Jones County, NC - Morris McDaniel Indenture of James White, 1861 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NOTE: This Bond was found in the Bastard Bonds of Jones County although it is an Apprentice Bond. This was brought to the attention of the staff and they were suppose to move it to the proper place. Morris McDaniel and James White. State of North Carolina, Jones County. Know all men by these presents, that we, Morris McDaniel and are held and firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina, in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars, currency, to the payment whereof, well and truly to be made to the said State, we bind ourselves, and our respective heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this 16th day of December A. D. 1861 The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of Jones county aforesaid, have, on the day of the date of these presents, apprenticed to the above bounden Morris McDaniel a free Boy of Colour by the name of James White Now, if the above bounden Morris McDaniel shall not remove said apprentice out of Jones county, and shall produce said apprentice before said Court at any time when said Court may require it, and shall also produce said apprentice at the expiration of the time of his service, then the above obligation to be void.
